Cambridge Condominium Building Lobby
Posted by srselby on Apr 29, 2011 in Commercial PortfolioThis 1959 condo building was designed by renowned architect Hugh Stubbins. The lobby and common areas were last updated in the mid-80s, with Dusty Rose and Purple accent colors. The building is a wonderful example of Mid-Century architecture, and On The Move Interiors wanted to be sympathetic to the era. We were able to look at the original building plans (drawn by hand!) which had been donated to the Harvard Graduate School of Design archives. Coincidentally, the colors we had chosen were similar to the colors Mr. Stubbins had specified in his original plans. While the project budget didn’t allow for the carpet to be replaced, the new furniture, artwork, and colors transform the atrium lobby to evoke the bygone era.
