Renovated Attic
Posted by srselby on Apr 22, 2011 in Color PortfolioThis client finished his attic to create a new bedroom and living area. The hallway connecting the two spaces has a clothes closet on the right and a laundry closet on the left. Our client, not being afraid of color, painted the accent wall in the bedroom a deep purple and the living area’s accent walls with a rich gold. He wanted to bring each color into the other space.
We suggested painting each side of the hallway one of the two colors, as shown. But because the hall has a clothes closet on the right and a laundry closet on the left, if our client had painted the hall the “standard” way – painting the doors and frames the trim color (white in this case), there would have been very little purple and gold on the walls and the result wouldn’t have been as dramatic. This is a good trick to make things, such as radiators or electric boxes, “disappear”.
